🍂 Still in the Season of Mabon: Gratitude, Abundance, and the Art of the Pause

This post is brought to you by The Practical Witch — you know, that friend who actually reads the moon calendar and knows where her car keys are.
She’s got herbs drying in the kitchen, playlists for every equinox, and a soft spot for anyone trying to slow down without turning their life into a Pinterest board.
She’ll remind you to breathe, refill your cup, and maybe stop being a pain before Mercury even thinks about going retrograde.

We’re right in the heart of Mabon, the autumn equinox — that sweet balance between light and dark, warmth and chill, action and rest.
It’s the season that says, “You’ve done enough — gather what matters and let the rest go.”

But here’s the thing: knowing that and actually feeling it? Two different stories.
Life keeps rolling, emails keep pinging, and sometimes gratitude sounds like another thing on the to-do list.

So here’s your gentle nudge (and mine): find yourself one tiny Mabon intention — something you can do without overthinking it.

Whisper “thank you” when you wake up. I know you don’t want to but this is why you have to. Yeah, I am kind but the kind of “hit-you-with-hard-truths-kind”
Make soup, or a crumble, apples, autumn you know, and call it a ritual — because well when you add intention this is what it is.
Write down one thing you have enough of, you are happy with, you want to celebrate, right now.on a shop receipt, on the back of of a scribble the kids left on the table. Repeat. As often as you can. Smile at it

Mabon isn’t about grand gestures… To be honest, darling, I am not such a believer in grand gestures, I think silver lining the everyday saves the day…So I was saying Mabon, it’s about remembering the pause between inhale and exhale.
It’s about noticing that the light looks different today — softer, wiser, golden in the corners, those leaves turning are such a help: try to notice their colour changing every day, fills your brain with beautiful colours and real sense of time.

And if you need a little help grounding yourself, I made some Mabon cheat cards — small reminders for when your head’s spinning faster than the wheel of the year itself.
They’re not rules or spells, just gentle prompts to bring you back to balance.

Because it’s still time.
Still time to catch your breath before the next turn.
Still time to gather your inner harvest before Samhain knocks on the door in her black velvet dress.

Next week, we’ll talk about Mabon’s goodbye — and how to carry what’s worth keeping into the darker months.
For now, stay in the in-between. That’s where the magic brews best.
🍎

Lau’s note:
When she says “cheat cards,” she means these ones — my little painted reminders from the Wheel of the Year collection. I made them for moments exactly like this — when you know what the season means, but forget to feel it. Go have a look if you need a tiny dose of balance (and colour) to carry into autumn.
